The Lincoln Premier League (LPL) 2017 & Charity Pink Ball Match between the Lions & the Tigers was a resounding success. Despite the initial worries about Rain Stopping Play, the weather managed to behave admirably well and, judging from the overwhelmingly positive feedback, those attending (& organising!) had a brilliant day. Attendance was well over a hundred people who, it was heartening to see, not only supported the event but also were very generous with their contributions.
- LPL Family Cricket: As always, this event was enjoyed by all those playing, watching and cheering, irrespective of their age or sporting ability.
- Potluck Lunch: Each family cooked or bought food for the lunch – the food was delicious! The potluck proved so popular that many people have suggested carrying on in the same tradition.
- The Charity Match: This match between the Tigers & the Lions was closely contested, which made it all the more exciting. A huge congratulations to the Tigers who won the match by 3 runs in a nail-biting finish! And congratulations also to the Lions, who won the trophy for raising the most money, a total of £244. The Tigers raised £234 and the spectator contribution was a whopping £242! Thanks to this generosity, a total of £720 was raised on the day, of which £120 was donated to the Scouts Charity and the remaining £600 went to the Lincoln Community Larder.
- Games for the younger children: A special mention and thanks to Archana Sreedharan & Mallika Varadaraj who organised these games for the younger children and kept them entertained, raising £25.20 in the process.
The LPL organisers* are very grateful for the support, cooperation & enthusiasm from all attendees and would like to thank everyone for showing such generosity in order to raise money for a worthy cause. And last but not the least, a very special thanks to Rajesh, Manish, Gaurav & Garima for their help with umpiring, score-keeping etc.
